Boy Scout Related Arrow of Light Requirements (OLD PROGRAM)

There are several Arrow of Light requirements related to Webelos Scout interactions with a Boy Scout Troop. The intent of these requirements is to encourage Webelos to get to know one or more local Boy Scout Troops so they can make an informed decision about which Troop to ultimately join. The table below provides a summary of the Arrow of Light requirements related to Boy Scout Troops.

Note: A single event with a Boy Scout Troop cannot be used more than once to satisfy these requirements (e.g. cannot use one of the Outdoorsman events to also satisfy an AOL requirement).

Boy Scout Related Arrow of Light Requirements (Note: Outdoorsman Pin is required for AOL)

Outdoorsman Pin Requirement 4 - With your parent or guardian, camp overnight with a Boy Scout Troop. Sleep in tent you have helped pitch.

Note: Not required if other requirements are done instead (you just need to do any two of requirements 1-4).

Outdoorsman Pin Requirement 12 - Visit a nearby Boy Scout Camp with your Webelos Den.

Note: Not required if other requirements are done instead (you just need to do any five of requirements 5-12).

AOL Requirement 4a: Visit at least one Boy Scout Troop Meeting.

Required - Most Troops have several "Open House" meeting nights, or you can contact them to attend a "regular" meeting.

AOL Requirement 4b: Visit at least one Boy Scout-oriented outdoor activity.

Required - This can be satisfied by Apple Harvest activities, a hike or outing with a Boy Scout Troop, or as a last resort by selling Christmas Trees with a Boy Scout Troop.

AOL Requirement 6: Once you have selected a Boy Scout Troop, schedule a conference with the Scoutmaster.

Required - This should be ideally done just once after you have selected a Boy Scout Troop to join.

Selecting a Boy Scout Troop

Second year Webelos "graduate" to Boy Scout Troops at the Blue and Gold Crossover Ceremony in February. Selecting a Boy Scout Troop to join is a very important personal decision and should be based on the particular interests of each scout. We recommend that you visit several Boy Scout Troops before making your decision. Note that it is possible to later transfer to a different Troop if you change your mind, but it is better/smoother to stay with one Troop from the beginning.

Note: Pack 77 policy is to provide unbiased and impartial information on various local Boy Scout Troops to aid in your decision.
